If you are serious about wanting to beat T2D, the route you must take involves killing your carbohydrate addiction.
This entails a bit of education. Reading ingredient labels. The simple fact remains- most people are not going to do a radical switch.
We are creatures of habit, and the habit of buying food products instead of food- is the main reason we have become T2D. The human body did not evolve to consume Doritos, Oreos, Donuts, or liquid sugars.
Far too many people believe that they can “go natural” and there will be some sort of vast improvement in their health.
One reason why I do not do personal coaching? Too much resistance, and a waste of my breath. I was speaking with a friend of mine, and we discuss a lot of things about health. The discussion came up about red wine, grapes and such.
Are these healthier than regular soda. Yes, they are.
That doesn’t mean I, as a T2D am ever going to drink red wine or grape juice because they have some anti-oxidation benefits. The cellular damage caused by the instant glucose the body forms from these liquids does more damage than the benefits from the AO’s.
A few grapes every once in a while? Yes, and thank you, in season I certainly will enjoy 5 or 6 grapes, with a meal or as a snack.
Dan told me Welch’s grape juice “is good for you”.
I told him- “IT NEVER WAS GOOD, FOR ANYONE.
Dan is not T2D, but is getting fat. He is moody, he is developing joint pain and arthritis. He also says only one meal and has small snacks during the day. He does drink diet soda, and diet tea, no caffeine. He refused to believe that his inflammation is nutrition related.
Because of this, he suffers immensely. He likes potato chips. He believes that they are made from potatoes, and therefore are “good”. He believes that sunflower oil is ” heart healthy”. He is not trying to hear that his consumption of these really bad things are the sources of his health issues.
I’m not going to argue anymore, he will suffer, and his his health will decline. I am not a close friend. We know each other through my work, and I see him frequently.
The benefit of grapes is in the skin. It is also beneficial to eat the flesh of the grape, as it has fiber. I look, specifically for the grapes with seeds in them. Chewing those seeds with the grapes has been done by humans for thousands of years, and the substrates found in those seeds combined with the fiber and AO’s make a few grapes healthy for you.
Grape juice? That is a product. The benefits are missing. No fiber, no skin, no seed. Whatever vitamins remained were boiled off in processing.
grape juice is merely sugar water.
