I was never a coffee drinker.I am now.
I had tried it twice in my life. And even loaded with sugar and flavored creamers it was bitter, to me.
Then I read about all of the great health benefits. So I tried it. It made my heart race.
It felt like what I imagined smoking crack would feel like.
Wow. This stuff is not gonna be good for my vascular health. Absolutely, it is not. The high Caffeine of the Columbian dark roast was unreal.
I waited a few months. Did more research.
Decaf. That was the ticket. It has caffeine, but far less than regular coffee and only about 1/7th of the diet soda I had been consuming since diabetes.
In the past few weeks- I have found some great benefits, and have doctored my coffee up to make it even better.
I use butter, and prefer grass fed, if available. I use the butter instead of milk.
And I add dark cacao powder to make this transform from a regular cup of Joe to a powerful elixir.
It is super easy for the butter to go down in a cup of decaf. Add the cacao powder = add nutrition, with a few carbs.
This gives me the ability to easily skip a meal, yet minimizes the impact of the cacao carbs on blood sugar.
I had a policy of no liquid carbs. And with the exception of my cacao/decaf fat bomb, that policy is still in place.
The fat is needed, as I am usually in ketosis, and eat low carb to satisfy my blood glucose meter.
My blood sugar readings are going lower. Thanks to the fat and the added magnesium, potassium, and whatever other trace elements that were not in my diet.
