There is little discussion about the true root causes of T2D. This lack of discourse leaves millions of people without the proper knowledge to decide what to do about the situation.
I was faced with this terrible conundrum and knew virtually nothing about medicine, physiology, pathology, or nutrition.
All I knew- was that sugar wasn’t my friend anymore.
I am approaching the 3 year mark, of being deemed a wildly out of control Type 2 Diabetic.
My A1c was 10.9%.
I was dying.
My body was noticeable disintegrating before my blurry eyes. Muscles were melting, and turning into soft jello.
They refer to this as unexplained “weight loss”. The problem is that there is an explanation for the unexplainable.
The body has a reason for allowing this.
In fact, the body is programmed to do this.
The muscle loss is catabolism, not sarcopenia. The fat loss is explainable, too. This is lipolysis. I would like to call it autonomic lipolysis.
The body has reached a severe position. It realizes that the fat cells are not working properly. Fat, called triglycerides, is stored energy, converted from blood glucose, for the most part.
Another little discussed issue, are those serum blood levels of triglycerides. Many doctors are familiar with high triglycerides. The excessive amount of free flowing TGs causes problems with cholesterol. They refer to these cholesterol and triglyceride numbers as dyslipidemia.
In a few short minutes, here, you now have the basis of understanding that you have some abnormal conditions. You have high blood sugar, high triglycerides, and high “bad” cholesterol. On top of that you have low good cholesterol.
As a T2D you also are very likely to develop high blood pressure.
High blood sugar.
High Triglycerides
High Blood Pressure
High Cholesterol
Low Good Cholesterol
Malnutrition
Low Vitamin D
This is where most of us stand as T2Ds.
Then there are the 3 P’s of Diabetes.
POLYURIA – WE PEE A LOT
Polydipsia- we are dehydrated
POLYPHAGIA- WE ARE STARVING.
Then there are other “symptoms” and of course DIABETIC COMPLICATIONS.
Have you noticed that we did not jump into the discussion of the Pancreas, or beta cells, or insulin levels?
These are not the cause of Diabetes.
